Available Dogs

Please note that MNSR does not operate a central shelter. Our dogs live in foster homes until they are matched with an adopter. An application must be submitted and approved prior to meeting any of our dogs. For information on how to adopt these wonderful dogs, please visit our How to Adopt page for a summary of the process and a link to the application.

Clicking on a picture below will take you to more detail about the Sheltie and explains the type of home that will best meet their needs, indicates if a fence is required for that dog, and whether they can be placed with children, dogs or cats. Please note that we cannot guarantee the availability of the Shelties in our program, and that our priority is to meet the needs of the Shelties in our care.

Brodie is a joy! He’s a very sweet, handsome and happy boy who likes to be with people and play with other dogs. He loves to fetch, and has a variety of toys he will chase and bring back to be thrown again. Read more!

Hello, I’m Midge! Since I was rescued from a commercial breeding facility in 2019, I have been learning how to live the good life with my foster family, and I am ready to find my forever family. In the spirit of MC Hammer’s “U Can’t Touch This”, I prefer to receive your love from a comfortable distance. :) I’m eligible for the MNSR Special Needs Longterm Care Program with a local senior person interested in fostering me permanently.

Otis is an 8 year old, 135 pound Great Pyrenees/Lab gentleman available for adoption with Top Dog Foundation. While at his foster home, he has quickly gathered more hearts than a grade school valentine party!

Okay, I admit it - I'm just a picture and not really available for adoption!

Don't worry - we are still here helping dogs! We currently have 17 dogs in rescue, 8 of whom are in our Special Needs Longterm Care program for Shelties who are elderly or have ongoing complex medical conditions, and they live in foster homes with medical care and other needs provided for the rest of their lives. We have a few adoptions pending and a few Shelties undergoing evaluation or veterinary care prior to adoption.

Our adoption team has been matching incoming dogs with waiting families, and we are facilitating adoptions for Shelties in need with other rescues and in shelters.

If you are interested in adopting, please click on "How to Adopt" from the list on the left side of this page, and read about our process. Then complete and submit your application and get on our waiting list!
