Nedley

There’s a huge hole in our hearts. We lost our sweet senior Nedley on Friday, December 2, 2022. We are so grateful that we were able to cuddle and hold him as he crossed to a world with no more pain. Nedley came to us as a vacation sitter but never left. He was so sweet and gentle with the biggest eyes. He had a lot of arthritis and other medical issues that made walking more challenging, but it didn’t stop Nedley. Yes, he wasn’t able to go on walks or run but he made the best of it.

Our house was perfect for him because there were no stairs. The wood floors were sometimes a problem, but he learned to move over to the carpet, and we got him some boots. He had a love – hate relationship with the boots but eventually he realized they made it easier for him to move, though every day there was an audible moan when we put them on. He rarely barked, but when he did it was deep.

He loved to go outside the patio door and walk around to the garage…several times a day. That was his daily walk; taking a sniff of the air and sometimes scaring away the geese (thank you), ducks, and turkeys. We know he loved his yard because the day we got him back after returning from our vacation, he smelled his yard and did a little happy dance, like I’m home!

We loved him with all our heart and helped him adjust as his arthritis worsened and he needed more assistance with daily living. We were truly in awe of him. He was a tough guy, putting up with so much in his life and yet never wavered on making it a point to walk on his own. It seemed like the slightest wind would knock him over, but he would just give you those big eyes and we’d pick him up, get him grounded again, and off he went. We will miss him greatly.
