Rainbow Bridge Memories

This page is dedicated in loving memory to the MNSR foster and adopted Shelties who are waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge.

Rainbow Bridge Stories

Duffy came to MNSR in our early days with an injury to his leg. He found a wonderful forever home in which to recover from surgery, and over the years he mentored many MNSR foster Shelties, including Andy and Kit, who became permanent siblings. Duffy was a natural actor and performed in several plays with his mom, including two Shakespeare productions. His charming presence and intelligence are missed terribly.

Murray came to MNSR from a shelter and was so happy to join a couple who could shower him with love and attention. He loved going for walks around the lakes with them, playing fetch with the tennis ball, snuggling with his pillows, and rolling in the snow. Murray passed away peacefully in the loving arms of his family.

Harvey came into MNSR with an old untreated leg injury, and a long-time MNSR supporter recognized the special qualities of this special boy. Harvey was such a friendly guy, always wagging his tail, and he could run fast on his three good legs, never letting his disability get him down. He had a passion for vacuum cleaners and flashlights continues, and made sure to alert to any activity visible from the windows (unless he was napping). His little brother Toby taught him some Sheltie games like “tug” and “chase me,” and they were buddies. Mom would find toys all over the house because Harvey would scoop one up when excited, then drop it in another room. Visitors to the house were provided enthusiastic (loud) greetings and ample opportunities to pet him.  If the visitor sat down, he would then sit or lie by their feet as if to signal acceptance into the pack.  He was friendly to all people and dogs that he met, and was a good host when other dogs came to stay at the house.

Darby became a permanent resident of his foster home as he and MNSR alum Maki were inseparable. Over the years, Darby was a foster brother to a number of foster siblings, teaching them the rules of the house and all about being part of a family. Darby crossed the Rainbow Bridge on March 22, 2018 and is so very missed by his loving mom.
